Consolata Hospital Kyeni

Consolata hospital Kyeni is a level 5 faith-based hospital registered and licensed under the Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council (Reg. No. 000791) and managed by the Diocese of Embu. The hospital is situated in Embu County, about 160km from the city of Nairobi. The hospital was started by Consolata sisters in 1930 as a small dispensary. In 1956, it was upgraded to a hospital status with 20 beds which later increased to 167 in 2001. On 20th June 2016, the hospital built a new wing that increased the number of beds to 221.It was blessed by Rt. Rev Paul Kariuki, Bishop Diocese of Embu and all outpatient services shifted from the old hospital wing. On 30th November 2016, the hospital opened a new renal unit with four beds which was officially opened by former First Lady, Margret Kenyatta. Currently, the hospital has an official capacity of 280 beds. The average number of outpatients that visit our facility is 85,000 annually. The average number of admissions and surgeries done per year is 9,000 and 1,500 respectively. The hospital has a fulltime workforce of 214, three quarter of whom are medics/nurses, and a quarter support service. The hospital is a recipient of The Best Maternity honor in the Eastern region awarded in the year 2013.The laboratory is ISO 15189:2012 certified. The hospital has approximately 30,000 outpatient members who have chosen Consolata hospital as the hospital of choice according to National Hospital Insurance Fund.
